I just wanted to let everyone know that those of us running this blog are still getting the hang of things. If the design seems to fluctuate from time to time, please forgive us. We’ll probably be making changes, trying to get things looking “just right” for a while, so please bear with us. Right now, we’re set to allow comments, but they must be approved by one of the site administrators before they appear for the public. We’ll try to check for new comments as often as we can. Eventually, I think we’ll allow comments by alumni and family without moderation. We’d love any feedback you have (within reason, of course π ). You can leave feedback in the comments for this post. Thanks!

Dear Singers,
I wish you all the best as you embark on this great tour. I’m really excited for you and the spirit you’ll bring with you to the South Africans.
‘lots of love,
-Thomas Glenn
Dearest friends,
What an opportunity! I hope that you will take it exactly for what it is: an opportunity to bless the lives of so many people who may have never had such a musical / spiritual blessing in their entire lives. What an honor and a privilege!
I love you all and wish you the best from the home front. (Don’t worry, it’ll all be here when you get back!)
-Your favorite Singer-wannabe.
You know Sandefur, a picture speaks a thousand words… and I expect to see lots here so we really know what’s going on and can follow along.. Much love and best wishes to all of you on your adventure!
What an amazing Bon Voyage concert Friday night!! I wish that I could hear all of them on this exciting tour. Thank you for sharing your talents with such joy, spirit, and excellence. I am looking forward to any and all news and pictures.
With prayers and best wishes, Jared’s Grandma
Miss Cherie,
I wish you a great time as you tour, sing, and bring joy to the people of South Africa. You all have an amazing gift that you have developed. It is a treat to come to your concerts and take it all in. Watch out for the lions, and tigers, and bears, OH MY! Wait, bears? Are there bears in Africa? I don’t think so. Take lots of pictures babe. That’s the joy of digital pictures. You can review and delete them! π Best wishes to all. Dr. Staheli, you have done a wonderful job with your choir. It is quite a boost to hear your concerts. I wish I could join them.
Well, take care of yourselves. Be careful; be good; and for heaven sakes, enjoy yourselves. π
The BYU Singers’ fans and family are eager to see and hear about the South African land, cities, and people. We’d sure like to know how everyone feels with a very different audience than Provo’s De Jong Hallians. What are the weather and food, city and country-side like? How about the people? We’ll be glad to hear back from you!
P.S. Beej and Rae, Mom says that she loves you.
Kiely your camera should be waiting for you it will be there in 5 days!! and it was only 9.50 to send love you!
Cherie!!!
We will miss you around the apartment! What will we do this long without you?? Have fun! We won’t have too many parties without you! π I would love to see some of your pictures!!
Wow – you are there by now! We are so excited for all of you and for the people of Africa! They have a treat in store for them and you have an incredible life changing experience in store for you. We wish you the best and wanted to tell you that the farewell concert was fantastic – what a joy to watch you perform together. Rachel, BJ and Dan we love you and can’t wait to hear of your adventures and Dr. Staheli thank you for your grasp on the “big picture” and your ability to share that with the students under your care – you are amazing! Have a wonderful trip all! You are all in our prayers morning, noon and night! Love, The Robertsons
P.S. You girls looked great in your fireside dresses!
Okay, well, I guess I’m not so good with this web stuff. It left off the characters I put in again. “All of my love, all of my love, all of my love to you now”. 1 l0v3 (h3r!3 (@ll ! π
I just want to wish all the best. My prayers and thoughts are with you. Love you all.
On June 21, 1974 Jim and I left for South Africa with the BYU Sounds. We flew to New York for a day, London for a day, and then on to Pretoria. We spent seven weeks singing and touring throughout South Africa and what was then called Rhodesia. So you can imagine what we are thinking as we watch your itinerary unfold. We wish we were there with you! I can still remember what a long journey the airplane flight was and how glad we were to finally be back on the ground. Our prayers go out to all of you as we imagine the impact you will be making on the lives of the people who will hear your music and feel of your great spirit. It will be life changing for all involved. We love you Dan and Emily and miss you already. We are so glad you have each other and so many friends to rely on. Weβre grateful for this blog. We will look forward to reading it every day. Best Wishes.
Becs!
I’m so glad you have a blog! (Yes, I do know what that is!!) The kids will love this! Good luck! Have fun!! Be safe!! This tour provides the opportunity for you to change lives. (Not the least of which might be your own!) There are innumerable people who have never felt the Spirit and you can provide a means for them to have that happen. You truly can be a melodious instrument in the hands of the Lord. And what can’t be communicated in word or even music, can be felt and understood through your countenance, your beautiful smile, and your amazing enthusiasm for life. (I know you know all that but I’m a mom so I have to say it anyway!!) π Love you so much. We will be praying for you.
Josh, Nick, and Chrissy–We have been thinking about you and we’re glad you arrived safely. We know you will bless the people in South Africa! We also pray for your safekeeping.
Becca!!!!!!! We miss you, but we know you’re doing more good over there than you would over here being the babysitter (even though we know you’re the best babysitter alive!). Benjamin and Rose miss you (and so do I). They look at your pictures everyday. Try not to sing in your sleep too much! Your roommates for the trip might start singing in their sleep with you! Dr. Staheli might not like it if his sopranos lose their voices to too much singing in sleep! π
Valerie and the BYU Singers,
We are so excited for you! Soak it all up, stay healthy so you sound beautiful and we’ll be keeping you in our prayers and keeping our eye on this blog and our email. Let us know what Valerie says in her sleep. Valerie, we got your email, how exciting it was to hear from you. love the Perkins family
Benjamin:
I understand you called your mother. Sounds like you are doing great. We look forward to hearing more great things from you. Sounds like a great experience and a lot of fun. I am glad you are having good experiences. Write them down so you won’t forget what to tell your children in the future. Love you lots and you are in our prayers. Boster Family
I’m so excited for this blog! Thank you for doing it so that we can all experience the tour in even a small way.
I am so excited to hear all about your trip to South Africa! What a wonderful experience for all involved. I miss talking with you Sarah! I know that you will cheer all around you as you do our family. Take care and be safe. Astle family.
