Tour - 2023 Oregon/Washington/Idaho

BYU Singers loaded the bus Tuesday morning, made themselves comfortable in their home-away-from-home for the next week, and began the journey to Boise. We arrived in good time mid-afternoon, and were greeted by our sponsors and the staff of the Cathedral of the Rockies. This is a truly beautiful cathedral. The choir and Dr. Crane were thrilled to realize that the acoustics there are every bit as rewarding as the surroundings.

After a great night’s sleep for the choir, we were off and busing to our next city. It was a later start since we had traveled after the concert the night before–a choice that seemed better in the morning than it did when we arrived at the hotel late the night before!

Today began with…a bus ride! We left for Spokane at a very civilized hour, after spending the night in the same city as our concert! That’s the only time that will happen on this tour. But any inconvenience of tour is more than made up for with the great company on the bus, and the glorious singing every night.

Friday was a quick but enjoyable day in Seattle. We pulled in during the late morning, and most of the choir spent a couple of hours at the Pike Place Market, enjoying the sites, shopping, and finding fun food. Four current (and future) graduate students joined Dr. Crane at a workshop at the University of Washington with Dr. Geoffrey P. Boers.

After traveling 3+ hours on the bus AFTER the concert to reach Portland, the choir was given a little extra time to sleep and relax before jumping into the day. This was very much needed and appreciated!
