Saturday, May 17 - Riva del Garda, Italy
On Saturday, we made the journey to Riva del Garda. Starting at 8:30am, we started the 3.5-hour drive. Most people slept through the first half, but after our stop at a gas station, it was time to commence the Crane Awards. Every year, the presidency organizes the production of paper cranes (in honor of Dr. Crane) to award each member of the choir. Awards can be based on musical achievements, personality traits, or funny moments that occur throughout the year.

Friday, May 16 - Lugano, Switzerland
After a late arrival at Villa Sassa, the Singers were grateful for an opportunity to sleep in and have some morning free time in Lugano, Switzerland. The hotel was quite large and had a lovely spa that some people took advantage of. Others took walks to the coast and explored the town or took a nap.

Thursday, May 15 - Lugano, Switzerland
The Singers had a sleep-in before departing at 10am for Italian Switzerland. During our 3.5-hour bus ride, we stopped for a quick lunch at a gas station before finishing the journey. Most Singers decided to take a nap during this time, because the previous night we didn’t get back to our hotel until 1:30am!

Wednesday, May 14 - Mel, Italy
After breakfast at the hotel, we departed for a drive to Mel, Italy. Clad in our BYU Singers jackets, we entered the Municipal Office building as soon as we arrived to meet the Vice Mayor of the town. He spoke to us graciously and said that it was an honor to have us there. The Singers deposited their things (uniforms and bags) into a room upstairs, and went to explore the performance venue.

Tuesday, May 13 - Venice
We started the morning with rehearsal in an LDS church in which Dr. Crane served on his mission! He met up with some members that he met all those years ago. This was our final rehearsal of the trip— we’re all set for our remaining performances!

Sunday, May 11 - Thessaloniki
This morning started with a 9:30 church service with the Latter-day Saint branch here. Though very small, they have a great spirit about them. We totally filled their small chapel with both bodies and song. It is always a soul-filling experience to gather with members of our church around the world. We learned a bit about Paul’s letters to the Thessalonians, and also celebrated Mothers’ Day.

Saturday, May 10 - Thessaloniki
From what I saw when I went to breakfast around 10 am, I was not the only one who had a slower morning! The late nights and busy days start adding up. At 12:30 the choir met in a conference room here at the hotel, and talked through this evening’s competition pieces. They were absolutely ready in every way.

Friday, May 9 - Thessaloniki
Today was a day to enjoy this city. The choir had an hour rehearsal in the morning at the chapel, then were released to find a good lunch and wander the city until the meeting time of 6:30. Everyone looked well-fed and happy when they appeared, so the day seems to have been successful.
