Concerts

March 20-21 brought somewhere around 200+ alumni to campus along with their spouses, families and friends. No one stood still very long, so we will never know how many were actually there. But all there had a wonderful time reconnecting with friends they sang with at BYU, as well as those they have met since around the country. Hundreds (if not thousands) of photos were taken over the two days--these are just a very few to give a little flavor of the weekend.

Sunday, March 29 BYU Singers had the opportunity to be part of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's broadcast, Music and the Spoken Word. This is a welcome experience that the choir doesn't have every year, so it is much anticipated.All of the photos in this blog were very kindly shared with the choir from a photographer on site, and we appreciate having them.

BYU Singers joined with Women's Chorus, Men's Chorus, and Concert Choir this last week for the first concerts of the year. The Choir Showcase was a great success, and had very enthusiastic and appreciative audiences both nights. The entire night was quite varied as each choir sang selections that will be incorporated into their concerts later in the semester. BYU Singers began their section of the program with an arrangement by McGlynn of a 12th-century Irish tune--this in preparation for their upcoming performances at the Cork International Choral Festival in the spring of 2009. The cello and percussion accompaniment added much to the mood and texture of this wonderful piece. (Click images to enlarge)
